Aberdein Considine expands with Edinburgh merger

Aberdein Considine is set to merge with Edinburgh law firm and estate agent Russel+Aitken Edinburgh.

The combined businesses – which will operate under the Aberdein Considine brand – will employ over 480 people and have a turnover of over £32 million.

Russel+Aitken Edinburgh – which is a separate company from the Falkirk/Alloa and Denny offices – is based in the capital’s West End and can trace its roots back to the 1800s.

The firm offers a wide range of legal services, with a particular focus on goods and services to private clients, as well as dispute resolution. RA Direct, the company’s lender services division, also serves several UK lenders in areas such as conveyancing, mortgages, secured loans and supplementary advances.

Aberdein Considine was launched in 1981 and provides property, legal and financial services to private and commercial clients across Scotland and England, in over 70 practice areas. It operates a national network of 19 offices, with 460 employees spread across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Stirling and Newcastle.

Following the merger, all Russel+Aitken Edinburgh staff will relocate to Aberdein Considine and will be based in the company’s Edinburgh offices at Multrees Walk, Elm Row and Lothian Road. His two associates, Dianne Paterson and Alan Jones, will join as consultants.
