Chey meets Kishida in Tokyo during the Asian Business Council

SK Inc. Chairman Chey Tae-won met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at a forum in Tokyo on Thursday.

The two men discussed business cooperation.

Chey, who is also president of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), is in Japan to apply for the Busan World Expo and learn more about Osaka’s preparations for the World Expo. of 2025.

In Tokyo, he was attending the Asia Business Council, an annual forum set up after the Asian financial crisis by a Hong Kong-based organization, where the prime minister gave the keynote address.

The theme of the forum was the future of capitalism in Asia.

Other attendees included SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son and Hitachi Chairman Toshiaki Higashihara.

The next destination is New York, according to KCCI, a visit that coincides with President Yoon Suk-yeol’s scheduled attendance at the United Nations General Assembly at UN headquarters on September 20.

Chey is the private sector chairman of the bid committee for the 2030 World Expo in Busan.
