Entrepreneurs join forces to reach North Sea platform extension agreement


A new partnership between entrepreneurs Bilfinger UK and Global E&C has entered into a contract with oil and gas production company CNR International.

The framework agreement will see the two companies working under the new Torus BGP brand to provide operations and maintenance, engineering, construction, modifications, tissue maintenance, integrity inspection, commissioning and start-up for three platforms in the North Sea.

The companies, both incumbent contractors of CNR International with decades of combined experience in the North Sea, have created the partnership to meet the operator’s ambition to find new ways to extend the life of its assets. in a safe and economical manner, while supporting emission reductions.

Under the contract, which covers the Ninian South, Ninian Central and Tiffany platforms, offshore workers will be transferred from various subcontractors to Torus BGP.

The joint venture will be governed by a steering committee comprising Bilfinger UK Executive Chairman Sandy Bonner and Global E&C Managing Director Terry Allan.

During peak periods, Bilfinger and Global E&C employ around 7,500 people in the UK, more than almost all other engineering and maintenance contractors in the country.
