Gallagher appoints new Scottish chief executive

Insurance broker Gallagher has appointed Elliot Miller as Regional Managing Director, based in the firm’s Glasgow office.

In this new role, he is responsible for managing over 200 colleagues in offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, as well as home-based workers looking after clients across Scotland, with additional responsibility for Ireland. North and North East of England.

Each office handles the risk management and insurance needs of a portfolio of companies, ranging from large corporations to SMEs.

Miller will report to Peter Matthews, general manager of the North.

With over 35 years of insurance experience, he joins Gallagher from insurer CNA Hardy, where he served as Head of UK Regions for four years.

Previously, Miller was Managing Director for UK and Ireland at QBE Insurance Group.

He said: “Having worked for insurers for many years, I am delighted to be embarking on a new chapter and moving to the brokerage side of the industry.

“After working in London for many years, I am delighted to be reuniting with my roots and joining an insurance broker that has such an established presence in Scotland – as well as taking over the leadership of our Northern Ireland teams. and North East England.”
