Gross direct tax revenue increases by 30%

Gross direct tax collections through 2022-23 to September 17 stood at ₹8.36 lakh crore, a growth of 30% from the collections in the corresponding period last year.

Net direct tax collections amounted to ₹7.01 lakh crore for the current financial year to September 17, showing an increase of 23% over the corresponding period last year.

According to data published by the Ministry of Finance.

Refunds amounting to ₹1,35,556 crore were issued till September 17, up 83% from last year.

Fast processing of income tax returns (ITRs), with nearly 93% of duly verified ITRs being processed through Saturday.

Faster refunds were launched, resulting in a nearly 468% increase in the number of refunds issued in 2022-2023, according to the statement.
