Kenya and Spain to do business together


President Willam Ruto and Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez held a meeting Wednesday at Kenya’s State House, and the report following the meeting says Kenya and Spain signed a new trade agreement.

The President of Kenya has revealed to the press that Kenya and Spain have agreed to expand their trade, health and education relations.

The other topic discussed between the two leaders was the issue of the ongoing conflict in the eastern part of Asia between Russia and Ukraine.

Returning to the issue of business, the President of Kenya said that although the main objective is health and education, Spain is also urged to explore economic opportunities in other sectors, including agriculture, tourism, etc

He said, “Kenya has also welcomed the interest of Spanish companies in tourism, agriculture, infrastructure, water management and renewable energy projects.”

President Ruto noted that Spain is a country that Kenya is very keen to do business with. He said Kenya was committed to strengthening its economic and investment ties with Spain for the benefit of the Kenyan people.

The Spanish Prime Minister recently embarked on a tour of Kenya and South Africa to intensify political relations and promote Spanish business interests in both countries. He was accompanied by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Reyes Maroto.

Tomorrow, Thursday 27 2022, the Prime Minister will visit South Africa. He will meet South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria, with whom he will hold a joint press conference.

Commenting on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Ruto said: “IIt is our position as Kenya and East Africa that the issues around Ukraine must be resolved as soon as possible.
