LPS Industries obtains Cleanroom, SQF-Edition 9 certifications

LPS Industries, Moonachie, a manufacturer of vertically integrated flexible packaging, has achieved Class 100,000 cleanroom certification for its recently completed cleanroom as well as Safe Quality Food (SQF) Edition 9 Facility certification. This is the latest achievement obtained by LPS Industries for its flexible packaging business.

Certification body NSF, founded in 1944 as the National Sanitation Foundation, has conducted extensive, in-depth, multi-day audits of applicable codes for food-grade flexible packaging. This certification proves the commitment to provide quality products that comply with food standards for the food industries. SQF codes require continuous improvement to maintain a high quality, food safe environment throughout the cleanroom and facility.

The Safe Quality Food (SQF) program is a food safety standard referenced by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) based on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP). NSF Food Safety Certification, LLC, is accredited to certify to SQF.

Class 100,000 cleanroom certification (also known as ISO 8 cleanrooms) means the LPS Industries cleanroom has a maximum particle count of 100,000 particles greater than 0.5 microns per cubic foot of indoor air. This level of clean room is used in biotechnology, pharmaceutical processes and electronic assembly. In addition to LPS Industries food packaging, clean rooms are also used in the assembly of medical devices, the production of lithium-ion batteries and the production of solar panels.
