Freedom DayThe Promise Seekers Riders Motorcycle Ministry (MM), based at Promise Seekers Church in Sacramento, will host “Freedom Fest” beginning at 9 a.m. on June 25 at the Sacramento Battlefield.
The event will include a 100-mile motorcycle ride to kick off the event, which involves traveling from the battlefield to Sacramento and Buttonsberry before passing through Central City, Dunmor and Greenville before returning to the county around 12:30 p.m.
Additional events will include entertainment will be provided by three to four Christian worship groups, food trucks and the Muhlenberg County History Group, Sons of Confederate Veterans and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, both from Calhoun, and Sons of the American Revolution from Owensboro will also be on hand to organize their own activities.
A pork chop cooking competition, “Kids Que”, will also take place between 30 children divided into two age groups between 8 to 11 years old and 12 to 15 years old, while a fireworks display will take place from around 9:15 p.m.

“Anchored: Deepening Faith in God” Vacation Bible School
Beulah General Baptist Church will hold its vacation Bible school program under the theme “Grounded: Deepening Faith in God” from 9:30 a.m. to noon June 25 at 652 Kentucky Highway 593 in Calhoun.

Free summer lunchesMcLean County Public Schools will offer free summer lunches to all children 18 and under from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Lunches will be served at Calhoun Elementary School, 755 Main St., Livermore Elementary School, 110 Eighth St. and Marie Gatton Phillips Elementary School – Sacramento, 640 Main St.
In accordance with federal guidelines, all meals must be consumed on site.
Adult meals can also be purchased for $3.

50th Class Reunion – Class of 1972There will be a 50th anniversary reunion for the Old Calhoun High School Class of 1972 at 6:30 p.m. on June 25 at the home of Luie Whitaker, 2151 Brooks Schoolhouse Road in Calhoun.
The event will be hosted by The Farmhouse Restaurant & Catering in Madisonville.

Agricultural Services Agency Seeking AppointmentsMelanie Barnes, county executive director of the McLean County Farm Agency, announced that landowners, growers and people with an interest in crops or farming operations can nominate individuals to seek the position of regional committee member.
The county will hold an election in Local Administrative Area Number 2, which includes the communities of Livermore, Nuckols, Buel and part of Calhoun and part of Glenville.
Appointment petitions can be requested by visiting the FSA website or the FSA office. Petitions must be returned or mailed before the close of business on August 1.
The Regional Agricultural Services Agency Committee meets monthly to conduct business and hear producer appeals.
Elections are open to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, disability, gender, age, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital status or family.
The Farm Service Agency encourages minority and women’s participation in FSA committee elections.
