Nancy Pelosi’s husband buys over $1 million worth of computer chips weeks before vote on industry subsidies

Paul Pelosi, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosibought more than $1 million in stock in a computer chip company just weeks before a potential vote in Congress that would award a massive subsidy to the industry.

Mr. Pelosi bought between $1 million and $5 million worth of stock in Nvidia, which is a semiconductor company, according to a disclosure filing filed by Pelosi’s office. He exercised 200 call options, or 20,000 shares, the disclosure said.

Reuters reported that the Senate could vote on a bill containing billions of dollars in subsidies within the semiconductor industry as early as Tuesday.

The bill could send up to $52 billion in chip subsidies as well as tax credits to increase competitiveness with China.

Congress aims to pass the bill and send it to of President Biden office before leaving for their August vacation.

Craig Holman, Capitol Hill lobbyist for Public Citizen, a left-leaning think tank, told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the disclosure was concerning.

“It certainly raises the specter that Paul Pelosi might have access to insider legislative information,” Holman said. “That’s why there’s a stock trading app that exclusively monitors Paul’s trading activity and then his followers do the same.”

The disclosure also shows that Mr. Pelosi sold shares of Apple and Visa.
