Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine’s foreign minister, said Russia was worse than the terrorist group ISIS.
“Russia is worse than ISIS. Period,” Kuleba said Times Radio in an interview published on Sunday.
Kuleba said claims that retreating Russian forces were rounding up men to execute them, as reported by Human Rights Watch, were not claims but “facts.”
“They are so devastating and shocking that I can tell you openly that I have seen a lot of horrible things since the war started more than a month ago,” Kuleba said.
He said he hadn’t been able to sleep the night before because of all the pictures and the “understanding of all the suffering, fear and pain that my countrymen had to go through”.
Kuleba said even before Bucha’s atrocities he was determined to bring Russians who commit war crimes to justice, but now says he is committed to doing so until his last breath. He said Ukraine continued to “recover bodies” and “uncover mass graves” in Bucha, but the death toll he said was already in the hundreds.
“They must take responsibility and the world must punish Russia for its barbaric atrocities in Ukraine. Russia is worse than ISIS,” Kuleba said.
He called on the International Criminal Court to come to Bucha “to collect all the evidence” of war crimes.
