The Snappy Group has appointed Barry McGonagle as Chief Financial Officer.
His appointment is the latest of several high-profile appointments in recent months following a successful fundraiser last year.
McGonagle will lead the company’s financial operations and set the financial strategy to drive Snappy Group’s growth.
He previously held senior finance positions with the Trip.com Group and Skyscanner.
In December, the company bolstered its senior sales team with the appointments of Paul Adams as group sales director and Alasdair Lindsay as head of hotel sales at Hungrrr, a constituent company of Snappy Group.
The Dundee-based e-commerce group raised £19.4m in Series A funding last August. It has also added former Sainsbury’s chief executive Justin King to its board as an adviser.
The funds have already begun to help bring in new people, technology, marketing and service partners.
The group has grown from 220 to 1,700 trading partners since December 2019, and to more than one million users in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Its annualized gross merchandise volume is £140 million.
Snappy Group is made up of two companies, Snappy Shopper and Hungrr, operating in the UK convenience store and hospitality sector.
Mike Callachan, Managing Director and Co-Founder of The Snappy Group, said: “I am very pleased that Barry has agreed to join our leadership team – his experience with start-ups and high-growth technology companies, as well as his ‘with big business be hugely valuable to the Snappy Group as we pursue our goal of supporting more and more local businesses to bring on-demand convenience to local communities across the UK and beyond.
