Spotify adds audio enhancement for podcast creators

Music streaming platform Spotify added a one-button voice isolation feature in its Anchor app for podcast creators.

With the function called Podcast audio enhancementpodcast creators will be able to record in noisy environments and without expensive equipment.

The feature is activated by pressing a single button in the Anchor app that will eliminate background noise, bringing the user’s voice to the fore, according to a blog post.

Users can simply record in the Anchor mobile app and tap “Enhance” to dramatically reduce background noise for a clearer episode.

So if a user wants to record their latest episode in a crowded convention hall or at home with barking dogs or crying babies, they can, the blog says.

Additionally, the Anchor app allows users to turn the feature on and off while playing to compare results.

However, Spotify isn’t the only Big Tech company investing in voice isolation, as advances in AI are improving filtration without expensive dynamic microphones, according to the report.

For instance, Zoom and Google Meet offer background noise reduction technology in virtual meeting apps.

The feature is available for free to creators worldwide in the Anchor mobile app on iOS and android.

Spotify paid over $150 million for Anchor in 2019 and has since used it to make podcast creation as easy and effortless as possible.
