Twitter acquires Slack Quill-style communications app

Twitter acquired the Slack Quill-style messaging app for an undisclosed amount to improve the efficiency of messaging communication.

Quill is a messaging application for collaboration and communication with teams. This will help Twitter improve its direct messaging tool and make it more useful.

In a thread announcing the deal, Nick Caldwell, chief technology officer at Twitter, described Quill as a more deliberate means of communication.

“We’re bringing their experience and creativity to Twitter as we work to make messaging tools like DMs a more useful and expressive way for people to have conversations about the service,” Caldwell noted.

Quill will be shutting down, but his team will join Twitter and users who want to export their team’s message history, which will be available until 1:00 p.m. on December 11.

“We launched Quill with the aim of improving the quality of human communication. We believe that the tools we use to communicate today are not the best they can be. With Twitter, we will continue to pursue our original goal of online communication. more thoughtful and more effective for everyone, ”Quill noted in a blog post.

Meanwhile, Twitter’s new CEO Parag Agrawal said his top priority in this new role is to improve business execution and streamline the operation of the microblogging platform.

Agrawal, appearing for the first time since replacing Jack Dorsey at Barclays Technology Conference, said the company “previously operated in a functional structure where we had one engineering organization, one design research organization, and one design research organization. of the product teams that were integrated into it. . ”

Twitter’s new CEO has already started to restructure the company and two senior executives have already resigned as part of the reorganization plan.
