The Communication Workers of America are launching a $500,000 national media campaign against Frontier Communications for using contractor labor rather than the company’s own employees to build its fiber optic Internet network.
Union officials announced the launch of a media campaign, which will include billboards and television advertising, at a press conference at CWA Local 1298’s Hamden headquarters on Thursday.
“They’re bringing in contractors who don’t have the skills and dedication to business that our members have,” said Dave Weidlich, President of Local 1298. “Internet service has become as important to this country as than any other public service. They try to do it on the cheap and where mistakes happen because the quality of work just isn’t as good.
