Valvoline OK’d Oil Change Installation | Company

VERNON — The Planning and Zoning Commission has unanimously approved a new Valvoline oil change location in town.

The steering wheel oil change, approved at a PZC meeting earlier this month after a public hearing, will take place at 371 Talcottville Road, next to the Mr. Sparkle car wash.

The application for the Valvoline location was submitted by Allan Borghesi of Torrington-based Borghesi Building & Engineering Co., Inc., according to meeting minutes.

Economic Development Director Shaun Gately said Thursday that Valvoline has purchased Mr. Sparkle car washes throughout north-central Connecticut, including Vernon, Tolland and South Windsor, and is installing washing facilities there. oil drain. The new oil change facility in Vernon will still be on a separate plot from Mr Sparkle’s location, he said.

Gately also said the Mr. Sparkle would be upgraded as part of the purchase.

According to the minutes of the meeting, the application for the Valvoline location was approved on the condition that all work be done indoors, used tires be properly disposed of and not stored outdoors, and that the outdoor display of the location is limited in size.

Gately said next steps for the property include city approval of construction plans, which he said will happen in the coming weeks.

From there, he said construction of the Valvoline site would begin soon after, but isn’t sure how long that will take.

“With the materials and supply being what it is, I don’t know anymore,” Gately said Thursday.

He said the location will be a drive-thru and customers can stay in their car while the oil is changed.
